Pugs were bred for the Chinese imperial court as comedians — they made the emperors laugh and they have not stopped trying since. They are sturdier than most toy breeds, excellent with children, and remarkably content with apartment living.
The flat face that gives them their famous expression also means they need careful summer management. We do not recommend walks above 30°C and we strongly recommend air-conditioned indoor space year-round. With proper climate management, Dubai Pugs live long, happy lives.
They shed surprisingly heavily for a small dog — a weekly rubber-glove grooming session keeps it manageable.
